My whole life has been a constant battle with perfectionism - abandoned projects, ghosted drafts, procrastination until the very last minute so I can have an excuse when the results don’t live up to my standards.

My intention with this space is to practice the mantra of consistency > perfectionism. So many times in the past I’ve abandoned (or never started) projected after hours of research and planning because of my need for control and fear of failure. So this is my attempt to rewire my brain and dysfunctional patterns with just me DOING things without figuring out a plan first. However ugly or in progress the work is - it’s part of the process that will be celebrated and enjoyed.

This Substack will be home to my musings, art, and writing - part journal, part sketchbook, part letter to anyone who’s ever felt like they’re in the middle of becoming who they are.

There may be typos, grammatical errors, or sentences that don’t make sense - it’s part of my active attempt to capture my thoughts in the moment and trying to NOT polish my sentences by compulsively feeding everything through ChatGPT (I already do enough of that at work…)

If you are also a weary casualty of the perfectionism epidemic, I invite you to join me in the messy, liberating act of simply creating and sharing - unfinished thoughts, half-formed ideas, and everything in between. Let’s embrace both the beauty and the ugly of the process.

Here’s to hoping my next post won’t be 6 months later….

This is me doing what I fear the most.
